Hi Azaaz,

all vouchers are gone. Please get back by the end of Semptember. There should be another Microsoft and Prometric promotion.

Best regards

Dear Sir,

Thanks for reply on my comment, Here I am discribing of my step by step method for wds+mdt 2010+waik windows 7.

I have these prerequisites -

DC with complete active directory, at on Microsoft Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition.
DNS Server - is working fine.
DHCP Server - is working fine.
And installed waik windows 7 at same server
WDS also installed at same server, Location C:\remote install
MDT 2010 is also installed at on same server, Location- C:\Deployment Share

I am following your's video method, but unable to deploy and capture of windows 7. One thing more, During of add OS in MDT It is taking windows 7 X86 architecture by default. I think here is a problem that during boot time reference computer are not support of same architecture.

Please suggest me, Where is technical problem in my work?

please explain what is your problem in more detail. This is just demonstration of a technology, not complete guide or how-to. More info can be found here (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd919179(WS.10).aspx).

Hi Lisa,

basically it is the same thing. If you mount your full backup vhd file you can copy your data from it since it will show as disk drive in Windows 7. Or you can simply transfer copied data to Windows 7 by copying it from external drive. In any case, do not delete you backups. If you can, store them for safe keeping.

Best regards

Hello,

I just switched laptops and switched at the same time from Vista to 7. I had to turn in my Vista to get my new one, so I backed it up a few ways: updated my prior backup, did a new full backup, and tranferred all of the files I needed. (It's a good thing I have such a large external.) I'm just trying to figure out if it is best to bring my files over from the transferred files or from the full backup. (I don't really mind either one or ease of it. I just want to know which is best.)
Thanks!

Hi Malcom,

yup. It is completely new console, as stated in the post: "First thing that everyone will notice is all new management console. It is a step forward from MMC 3.0 and all future SC applications will share the same new console.". :)

Best regards

Hi Geoff,

when you search for some document or any file, and when search finishes you normally see results. If you want to open folder that containes file that you searched for, right click on that file in search results pane and select "Open file location".

Hope this helps

I need a search not only to find my stuff but also tell me where it is! Once found you should be able to click on something "Open containing directory" or some such. As it is I have to right click on the found item, select properties, highlight and copy the path, and paste that into the address panel in explorer. Shoddy stuff MS!

Hi Nancy,

zip files can be unzipped in Windows 7, but you will have to do it manually. If you can not create full PC backup (vhd file) I recommend you do copy/paste of all your important data to an external drive and later on move it to Windows 7 installation. You will have to reinstall all applications either way. Another way to go (I do not recommend it) is to do in-place upgrade of Vista to Windows 7.

Hi,
I am preparing to do a clean install for windows 7. Before I do it, I have done a PC backup in Vista. After reading these posts, I checked the type of file they are and it is compressed zip file. I tried to do the windows image and backup option but it would not saying that my drive (western digital my book was ineligible). will the compressed zip files be available when I go to windows 7? alternatively what should I do. I don't mind reinstalling software but would like to have all my information to transfer...again a signficant amount of pictures and data.

Hi Andrius,

I am aware that whitepaper for Storage Server 2003 states that it can not be used as DC, but if you look closely video in this post (use full screen) you will notice that I have AD console in the task bar on the same machine on which I am creating iSCSI targets. I was using Windows Storage Server 2008 Enterprise edition as iSCSI target. Sadly, that test environment is now gone and I can not check it. As far as I remember it, DC was installed on Storage Server. I did try to install Storage server in virtual machine now, but I keep getting errors during installation, so again, I was unable to test AD installation procedure. I do not have more time right now to test it further, but as soon as possible, I will give it another look.
