Few days ago, local newspaper from my hometown ran a short article about my Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) reward. Although during my 7 year career I had couple of significant rewards, nobody in my hometown ever mentioned it publicly. This article is to show that it is better to be last in a big town than first in a small one. And I am not the only one that “deservers” to be mentioned. Just from my high school generation, there a numerous successful people that came from Makarska and they are equally ignored by their hometown. Some of them are: Tomislav Bašković, Goran Šuto, Goran Janjuš, Vedran Beroš, Krešimir Pervan, Ivana Beroš, Brankica Grmoja, etc.
Well, politics, scandals and wannabe singers are still number one selling newspaper articles, and everything else is just there to fill voids on the paper. Sad but true.
