Here is little update on WD TV version 1. Latest prerelease firmware is 1.02.10. Scott Rader has tweeted about a new WD TV firmware update coming soon. This would be the first release in months from WD on their first media player. There is no indication as to what will be on this new firmware release. Here is a quote form his tweeter: #WDTV we are working on the WD TV HD Media Player product update! Will get it out to everyone as soon as it’s ready.
WD TV mini is basically the same product as WD TV, but bare in mind that it lack HDMI output connector and relies on Component A/V , Composite A/V and USB 2.0 connections. It is 30 $ cheaper than original version.
WD TV Live or WD TV 2 is supposed to appear in the next 2 week. Two of the greatest improvements among other features are
on board network card for copying or streaming content over network and DTS (not confirmed). All I can say is that I will probably sell my version 1 WD TV and buy this new one if all of the specifications are true. It remains to be seen. Full specifications are bellow.
