Windows Vista Folder View

by Marin Franković on 20 October, 2008

For a couple of days I was having huge problems with trying to make Windows Vista remember my folder view. The problem is in folder memory parameter within Vista registy. Vista has limited memory allocated for remembering folder views, so if you have lots of folders and files withins one folder it is very likely that Vista will reset folder view every time you restart it.

Here is the solution:

1.?????? Click on Start Orb . Type regedit in start search and then click regedit to run registry editor.
2.?????? Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell
3.?????? In the right pane, right click, point to New, then click on DWORD (32-bit) Value and name it BagMRU Size.
4.?????? Now in the right pane, right click on BagMRU Size, Click Modify.
5.?????? Check the Decimal and type 20000 and click OK.
6.?????? Restart your PC and you are done.
