I have just purchased new domain name, apartmanizivogosce.com that for now redirects to www.brajkovic.net. In the future, it may become summer apartment renting portal. Also, I have obtained Croatian domain, marin-frankovic.iz.hr that redirects to this blog.

Next iT Pro User Group meeting will be held on 2.7.2009., at 17:30 in Microsoft Croatia, Turinina 3. There is no special sessions this time. We will have constructive talk and discussion about new themes and sessions and how to improve our community. It is open microphone night so everybody will be able to speak.

It was a great conference. I came in Beli Manastrir around 16:30, and registered for the event. After dinner we all went to visit some wine sellers. I must say that Dalmatian wines are much better, but that is my personal opinion. Saturday was reserved for 4 tracks of sessions, such as it pro, developer, database and BI. Naturally, I was attending IT Pro sessions exclusively, since I am not developer or database expert. Later that night, we had dinner organized at etno village with folk music players. Guitar hero tournament and karaoke took place after dinner and when everybody was more relaxed. I must say that I am glad I went there because I met with some great people, where I have to mention Rane Johnson-Stempson and Henk van Roest from Microsoft. Hope to see everybody again next year. Just upgraded to new version of WordPress. Everything works fine except “Tabbed widgets”  plug in. Sorry for inconvenience, I hope that plug in writer will correct this error soon. What is new in 2.8 version can be found here.

This year I am invited to participate as speaker in local Microsoft conference organized by MS Community called KulenDayz. The conference will be held on 12 – 14.06.2009. in Beli Manstir, around 20 minutes drive from Osijek. I will be talking about Windows Server 2008 R2. As I wrote in some of my earlier articles, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 can be booted from VHD file without need to be installed on “real” physical disk. This is great option for testing or even deploying multi boot computers to users. Possibilities are endless.

Few days ago I decided to exploit this opportunity and to install Windows 2008 R2 RC in VHD and use it as boot option on my laptop. There are basically two ways you can do this.

First I created new virtual machine in Microsoft Hyper-V console and tried to implant it on my existing Windows 7 installation. I successfully modified boot sector to include VHD file but when I tried to boot from it I got BSOD.

Then I tried another possibility, I installed Windows 2008 R2 to VHD directly from its installation procedure. And it works great! Here is procedure on how to do it:

Today I started to use one of great MS Cloud applications, Sky Drive. I uploaded there some PPTs and MCT materials that I use during my training sessions in case I forget to bring them with me. Soon, I will be uploading my own PPTs from Security Days, Windays and other conferences that I participated as speaker and also I will be uploading interesting technical documents and white papers that I find and that are related to sessions that i deliver for my own company, conferences or Microsoft.
